Aikido

Aikido is a Japanese Martial Art and often translated as “the way of unifying life energy” or “way of harmonious spirit”. All techniques will focus on blending with the motion of the attacker and redirecting the force by using entering and turning movements. It requires a very little physical energy and the techniques are completed with various of throws and joint locks.

The word of 'aikido' is formed from three Kanji:-

- ai - joining, unifying, harmonizing
- ki - spirit, life energy
- dō - way, path

(Morehei Ueshiba, 14 Dec 1883 - 26 April 1969)
